Poetry Paper...... The Laughing Heart by Charles Bukowski

“THE LAUGHING HEART”
By: Charles Bukowski

Have you ever been at a point in your life where it seems as if all hope is lost? where all hope is lost?, where sadness and depression reigns?. Bukowski seems to be speaking about a dark place in one’s life, depression, suppression, anger, or sadness. This poem encourages one to no let certain situations bring them down, or sadden their hearts, one should take control of their life and make the best of it because where there is darkness there must surely be light, and where there is light there is a way out. Bukowski writes “the gods will offer you chances”, meaning that there are higher powers to help you find your way if you believe and also if you see the signs follow them and take opportunities given. In life everyone of us will have to die because there is no way to possibly beat or cheat death, it’s utterly inevitable. Bukowski, expresses the idea of knowing your life, what you want out of it, and what you mission is while your still alive then it’s obviously not worth living it. We all have one life to live, all we can do is live it to the fullest and not take it for granted, he also stresses the thought one is “Marvelous”, because truly we as human being are beautiful and unique, and the world is our place to dwell, enjoy and show off our magnificence and excellence.

Further more I feel that this poem “ The Laughing Heart” by Charles Bukowski, is a breath of fresh air to the world of poetry, it’s different, clean and heart warming, it makes you think, and have a whole new outlook on life, and also a grater appreciation for it, and everything it has to offer.
